Getting There

The best way to travel to the Riviera Maya is by way of Cancún International Airport, which is found approximately 45 min. from Playa del Carmen.

The Cancún airport is the second most important in Mexico and has the highest influx of international passengers in all Latin America. It has three terminals and receives more than 11 million persons annually.

It is located at km 22 of the Cancún-Chetumal highway.

  • 5 km (3.1 mi) from Cancún’s Hotel Zone
  • 8 km (5 mi) from downtown Cancún
  • 50 km (31 mi) from Playa del Carmen

The airport offers taxi and bus service to downtown Cancún, the Hotel Zone and Playa del Carmen. You may also choose to rent a car in one of the car rental offices found within the airport facilities.
